Miss Maren Haas:
Maren is the Owner and Director of "The Next Step... Dancing with
Maren." She has been dancing since the age of 4 and instructing
since the age of 14. Maren's teaching curriculum includes Tap, Jazz,
Ballet, Pom Pon, Hip Hop, Pointe and Lyrical. As an instructor her
students have received numerous High Point, Specialty and Overall
Awards, including such awards as Top Primary Studio, Top
Secondary Studio, Top Scoring Production Routine, and 1st Overall
17-19 yr old duet/trio. Maren loves to have the opportunity and
privilege to work with students of all ages. She judges for the
National Dance Competition Company Kids Artistic Revue (www.
dancekar.com).
Heather Finley:
Heather Finley has been dancing since the age of 7. She has trained
in tap, ballet, jazz, and pom pon. Growing up she was a member of a
competition team that won multiple National Championships. Her
additional performance experience includes Mack & Mable, Sugar
Babies, Carousel, The Will Rogers Follies, A Christmas Carol, and
Hair at the Omaha Community Playhouse. She has also performed
in the Aksarben Coronation Ball. Heather has been with The Next
Step...Dancing with Maren since it opened in 2005. She teaches
preschool classes, 5-6 year old classes, and style classes. She is also
an important part of The Next Step...Dancing with Maren
Competition Company Staff. Her routines have received multiple
high point and overall awards and titles including runner up for Miss
Petite Dance America and Miss Junior Dance America. Miss
Heather loves working with children and believes that everyone can
be a star. In her spare time she works at Babies R Us and enjoys
time with her family.
Elizabeth Nesi:
Elizabeth Nesi began her dancing at the age of 3 and by the age of 12
was starring in the "Nutcracker" as "Clara". At age 13 she was
touring with "Ballet West" and became a soloist at age 16. Ms. Nesi
was featured in "Newsweek" and the "New Yorker" magazines as an
up and coming American Ballerina in 1977. She joined Feld Ballet
and enjoyed a New York Broadway season with Baryshnikov. As a
principal ballerina she has performed most of the classical and neo
classical repertory throughout the United States. During a break
from classical ballet, she joined ABC's "Donnie and Marie Show" as a
Dancer/ Actress for 20 episodes and toured Scandinavia as a Guest
Artist with the “Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team”. Ms. Nesi
concluded her performing career as a principal ballerina with the
Cincinnati/New Orleans Ballet under the direction of Ivan Nagy.
Upon retirement she completed her MFA in Teaching/Choreography
under full scholarship as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the
University of Utah where she later served as an Assistant Professor
of Ballet. Her first year she won the prestigious John Park Teaching
Prize, to study the Tivoli Pantomime Theatre and the Royal Danish
Ballet in Copenhagen, Denmark. She has served as faculty for Dance
Aspen, Ballet West School, BYU Summer Dance, Professor of Ballet
at Point Park University, University of Montana, Salt Lake
Community College, University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Troy State
University and University of Utah. Ms. Nesi is the Company Teacher
and Artistic Coach for the only professional dancers in Nebraska
dancing with the Ballet Nebraska.
Rachel Matthes:
Rachel Matthes has been dancing since the age of 3. She has trained
in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and pom. Growing up she was a
member of the Sioux City Steppers where she competed on a
National level. In high school she was Captain of her dance team
and won multiple state and national titles. After high school Rachel
danced with University of Nebraska - Omaha on their dance team.
During her college career she began teaching dance to students of all
ages. Rachel joined The Next Step...Dancing with Maren in 2009.
She currently teaches our Hip Hop classes and fills in as a substitute
at times for our combination classes. Miss Rachel is proud new
mom and loves working with the students. She believes that hard
work, dedication and a little bit of fun can make the dance
experience special for all. During the day Rachel works at a local
Assisted Living Center and enjoys working with all of her patients.
