2008-2009 Class Descriptions:
Preschool Classes:
Once a week, 45 minute class where the curriculum includes introductory ballet and tap. Creative
movement, rhythm, and coordination exercises are also used during class to add variety.
5-6 Yr Old Classes:
Once a week, 45 minute class where the curriculum includes ballet, tap, and introductory jazz. All kinds
of music are used in this class from classical to current top 40 selections. Level I classes for 1-2 years
experience, Level II for 2-3 years experience.
Style Classes:
Once a week, 60 or 90 minute class (varies by level) where the curriculum includes jazz and tap. The
emphasis is not only on the technique in each area, but the different styles and execution of the steps.
Lyrical combination will also be included in the curriculum.
Hip Hop Classes:
Once a week, 45 minute class where the curriculum is based on the different styles and variations of hip
hop today. Today's newest music is used in this class. Age appropriate music and choreography is used in
these classes.
Drill Team Classes:
Once a week, 45 minute class where the curriculum is based on the different dance styles used today by
high school dance and cheer squads. All different jumps and trick steps are also included in the
curriculum.
Ballet Classes:
Once a week, 60 minute class where the curriculum is based on ballet technique (French & Cecchetti
Methods used). Both classical and newer styles of music are used during class.
Pre-Pointe & Pointe Class:
Once a week, 60 minute class where the curriculum is based on supplementing ballet technique with the
emphasis on preparing for and executing pointe work.
Adult Jazz & Tap Class:
Once a week, 60 minute class where the curriculum includes jazz, tap, and lots of fun. The curriculum is
set up for the beginner to the dancer that just wants to get back into it.
Technique Classes:
Once a week, 60 minute class where the curriculum is focused on learning how to stretch different
muscle groups and executing them. Different leaps, jumps, and turn technique will also be covered in this
class.
